BEING bad is good for Tyler Perry, whose latest movie, "I Can Do Bad All By Myself," opened at the top of the box office this weekend with more than US$24 million.
Do I need to say more… Oh, but I will, Trailers YouTube Channel says it all,
“When Madea catches sixteen-year-old Jennifer and her two younger brothers looting her home, she decides to take matters into her own hands and delivers the young delinquents to the only relative they have: their aunt April. A heavy-drinking nightclub singer who lives off of Raymond, her married boyfriend, April wants nothing to do with the kids.”
I've heard a lot of people say that they are tired of Tyler Perry. I started watching his shows since last year. There have been movies and TV shows in the past that have been less than quality but this isn't one of them and shouldn't be missed.
It was no surprise at all that Taraji P. Henson did a wonderful job not only portraying her character April, but also in her singing scenes.
Adam Rodriguez's accent in this movie seems forced and not natural, but he still does a good job portraying his role even though I would like to see him in a film playing the villain.
Tyler's movie made me Iaugh out loud and cry. I love his humor. For instance, there is one scene in the movie that Madea (Perry) is asked by a teen girl how to pray, and she responds by saying, "The last time I talked to God was when I saw a cop in my rear-view mirror!" Madea also shows her lack of Bible reading when she mentions one "biblical" story which put Jonah, Peter and Noah all together! The audience I screened the film with laughed at the zany and inept story. Moreover, that's so much fun of the ending scene; Jennifer tells April that Sandino is a good man and she shouldn't let him go, and starts repeating the same Bible Stories that Madea told her. Oh, Lord... Orz....
Anyway, it's a good movie, I mean although it's not great, but somehow it hits me, especially the singing scene, which gave me a snapshot thought of "Hope is closer than you think".
P.S. As far as I can remember, get three quotes from the movie:
1. "Clothes don’t make you pretty. Clothes make you broke.” 2. "Living takes a lifetime.” 3. "If you give some good things to people, good things come back to you — most of the time.”
Taraji Henson
Mary j blige
